About

Welcome

Hey, I’m Bhanu—I'm a scientist with expertise in concussion, sport science, MRI - and data science.

This portfolio is meant to showcase some-but not all-of the data science projects I have completed. What is showcased here can be adapted and applied to other data. An example analysis on a healthcare database can be applied to consumer purchasing data or social media engagement metrics, for example. This portfolio is meant to share some of my data expertise, and  along the way, spark some curiosity in applying these methods to your data.

About me

I completed my MSc at the University of Toronto, where, I developed a foundation in neuroplasticity, learning how the injured and diseased brain changes and recovers. I took this experience to a new lab during my PhD, where I worked in sports science to understand how exercise supports neurological recovery from concussions. For my postdoctoral training, I chose to work alongside engineers, advancing neuroimaging techniques like MRI to improve the diagnosis and monitoring of concussions. Along the way, I took self-directed opportunities to build my data science skillset, culminating in the Data Science Certificate through WatSPEED at the University of Waterloo, developed in partnership with the University of Toronto's School of Continuing Studies. I recently won the 2025 Big Data Cup, a hockey analytics data competition where I identified features of power play formations that predict shots and goals.
